Today is the Iranian New Year (No Ruz). I am still in Dubai after a few days getting my
bike ready and should be on my way tomorrow. I have seen a lot in the last few days.
I got up early this morning and cycled to Jumeirah Beach and stayed until the passing of the New Year at 9.30am. I thought a lot about my family who were visiting my grandmother today.
When I arrived in Dubai I found that my rear hub was worn and had to find a replacement. It took a lot of time. In the end I bought a budget hub rather than an original as it was much cheaper ($3 instead of $23!!). I also spent some time at the best bike shop in Dubai, Wolfi’s Bike Shop, where I got some ball bearings for the rear hub – and good advice on cycling to Oman.
In the last days, I also visited some Emirati friends who work for the Dubai Cultural Council and Dubai Museum. I had a great time with them even though they were very busy
with an art exhibition.
With Wayne, I also went to the memorable opening of the Art Dubai contemporary exhibition, the Arabian Horse Championship (where I rode a horse for the first time!) and played many games of Mensch

congratulations.you are such a brave person, i really admire you. what you are doing is not sth every one can do, so many peopel may like to(including me) but peopel like you who do it are very rare, so i think you can be proud of yourself. travel by your own in other countries and by a bike its awesome. enjoy every moment of it. Im sure when you are back home you will be a much more experianced person, good for you. wish you a safe travel.
